	25/Nov/2009: Dr. Mahmoud Meribout, Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering was invited and served as an External Examiner for a PhD dissertation at University Blaise Pascal of Science & Technologies, Clermont Ferrand, France. The title of the dissertation was “Design of a Low-Cost Localization System using GPS.”
	24/Nov/2009: Dr. Abdurrahim El-Keib was recognized by the PI for receiving the “Outstanding Engineer of the Year Award” by the President of the IEEE/PES. Read more.

	16/Sep/2009: The following programs have been approved for initial accreditation by the CAA effective September 1. Master of Science in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Petroleum Engineering.
	09/Sep/2009: The five undergraduate academic programs at the PI - Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, Petroleum Engineering and Petroleum Geosciences - have been granted full accreditation from the CAA, Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, September 1, 2009 - August 31, 2014.
	25/Aug/2009: The PI has received approval from the Ministry of Higher Education & Scientific Research for the Master of Science in Petroleum Geosciences. The program will start with the spring 2010 semester and applications are accepted.
	26/Jul/2009:  A new story entitled ‘Swimmers’, by Janet Olearski, Learning Enhancement Coordinator, appears in the latest issue of the London-based literary magazine Pen Pusher (Issue 13, Summer/Autumn 2009).
